During the last TEAMM Masterclass event, one member of our community raised so many interesting questions I decided to schedule a separate conversation with her (and one of her colleagues) to address her specific ideas and explore some fascinating topics. We recorded the conversation, luckily, because we covered some ideas that I think will be VERY interesting to many in our community, especially about how to get started with movement-based teaching. I’ve also been chatting with many TEAMM members who are just getting started on their journey, so I thought I would share some perspectives on how to take the plunge into this work and why it’s worth the effort! But first…
Housekeeping:
In the July TEAMM Masterclass we’ll be discussing ways we might craft a beautiful chaos-free classroom environment for our students. I’ll share some thoughts from my journey and hear your questions. We’ll find some new ways to approach classroom management that limits chaos without restricting student creativity and freedom. You don’t want to miss that!
From the Archive:
If you’re convinced that incorporating more movement-based instruction in your classroom will benefit your students, welcome to our community! There are some TEAMM members who are further along in their journey and are already adopting many of these ideas. There are others who are just scratching the surface and are somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of content on here. Where to begin? Here’s how I recommend using your TEAMM subscription.
Read each post when it comes, even if the topic doesn’t look terribly interesting to you, there are lots of philosophical insights woven in that will help you to successfully adopt a movement-based approach.
In the “Housekeeping” I will usually reference older posts and highlight them in various ways. This is a great way to know which ones are probably important to review and will offer you something usable.
Attend Masterclass events and ask questions! Schedule a call with me to discuss your specific questions! Interact with other TEAMM members in the comment sections! Be part of the community!
Stay tuned for other tips and tools that will be coming your way soon! TEAMM members will always stay updated on the latest ways I’m imagining to deliver great Dalcroze-based content to mainstream music educators. Don’t miss it!
As promised, here is an excerpt of a conversation that offers some VERY practical advice on how to “get started” with students and how to frame a movement-based approach in the elementary.
